Abstract

3D Cancer Models In article 2201907 by Daniela Loessner and co-workers, the tumor microenvironment of pancreatic cancer is engineered using star poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)–heparin hydrogels, that are functionalized with integrin-binding and protease-responsive peptides to stimulate cell proliferation and migration. The coculture of cancer cells and patient-derived stromal cells mimics the multicellular composition of tumor tissues and cancer–immune interactions and allows the testing of immunomodulatory treatments in combination with chemotherapy.
