Abstract

Having been announced for the beginning of 2018 the publication of my translation of Convivio as part of the Penguin Classics Companhia das Letras collection, I present in this article the history of the transmission of the text of Dante, from manuscript codices to the most recent Italian editions that served as basis for the translation and for its critical apparatus. Because this is Dante’s text that most provokes discussion about its (re)establishment, the translation derives from the critical edition of Franca Brambilla Ageno (1995), emphasizing the importance of observing the philological discussion in the field of the studies about Dante made in Brazil.
