Abstract

In the reactions 126Te( 22Ne, 5n), 128Te( 22Ne, 7n) and 130Te( 20Ne, 7n), leading to 143Sm, an isometric state with T 1 2 = 30±3 msec and an excitation energy of 2793 keV was found. In the decay of this state the following transitions were observed: 51 keV, 75 keV (M1, E1 + M2), 180 keV (E1), 209 keV (E3, isomeric transition), 1564 keV, 1703 keV and 1829 keV. As is confirmed by isomeric cross-section ratios, the decay leads to the first isomeric state at 755 keV. Probable spin and parity assignments for the new isomeric state are 19 2 ± or 21 2 + .
