Abstract
In the analysis of creep deformation in plate bending structures, it is difficult to attain both efficiency and reliability. This is true for detailed analysis such as the finite element method as well as for a simple approach such as the plate bending theory. To overcome the defect, the authors developed formulations based on the plate bending theory which take into account the distribution of creep strain and material inhomogeneity through the shell thickness. The theory was applied to the analysis of the bulging in continuously cast slabs. Various analyses showed that the method presented was extremely efficient and the calculated results were sufficiently reliable.
