Abstract
Abstract A new technique for recoil distance measurements has been developed. The target is swept by means of an electromagnetic scanner. The electric signal proportional to the recoil distance and gamma-ray pulse are analysed as two parameters using an on-line computer. The performance is demonstrated by a lifetime measurement of the 0.709 MeV level of 30P. The value (51.8±3.0) ps is obtained.
