Abstract

A technique for investigating road vehicle wakes using a perpendicular pair of split films is described. Heat transfer laws, temperature effects, binormal cooling and deviation from ideal probe behaviour are all considered. Calibration procedures and experimental technique are described. A typical set of time-mean and fluctuating velocity measurements are presented and discussed.
