Abstract

Myomectomy at the time of Cesarean delivery has traditionally been avoided due to fears of excessive bleeding and higher rates of surgical complications. However, recent literature has demonstrated the safety of Cesarean myomectomy when performed by an experienced surgical team. Myomectomy at the time of Cesarean section offers many advantages, including prevention of a second surgery to remove the fibroid. At present, there are no comprehensive, reliable educational videos for teaching this procedure. Curated instructional videos on surgical procedures can teach key surgical steps without needing to enter the operating room. This video is an excerpt from a full length teaching video demonstrating the key steps in performing a Cesarean myomectomy, including patient positioning, relevant anatomy, and surgical technique. This video combines real-time operating room footage with high fidelity 3-D animation.
