Abstract

Amidst a rapidly evolving health care landscape, the advanced practice provider workforce is increasingly leveraged to expand health system capacity for high-quality and cost-effective care delivery. Despite the tremendous growth in roles for advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants within health systems, there is little guidance on how to structure advanced practice provider leadership to optimize the utilization of this workforce. This article describes a systems-based approach to advanced practice provider leadership integration and operations pioneered by Atrium Health.
