Abstract

The authors present the design and performance assessment of an on-line measurement and control system for a gas-fired tunnel furnace used for firing refractories. The system monitors and controls combustion and temperature conditions for the purpose of optimizing the temperature-dependent quality indices of the refractories as well as the thermal efficiency and fuel consumption of the furnace.
