Abstract

Nine species are admitted inMarasmius sectionGlobulares for the United States. The presence or absence of cystidia, as well as their morphology and distribution, provides a convenient means for distinguishing species. Taxa possessing setae or broom cells are excluded from sectionGlobulares and are considered best accommodated inMarasmius sectionSicci. Descriptions and illustrations of poorly known species are given; references to complete treatments of well-known species are cited. A key to species is provided.Marasmius nigrodiscus is proposed as a new combination, andMarasmius lilacinus is lectotypified.
