Abstract
TCP stands for Transmission Control Protocol. It is widely used end-to-end protocol. TCP is high reliability protocol for the wired Network. In general TCP is used for wired Network but it can also be used for both wireless Networks too. TCP works efficiently for the wireless Network too. Algorithms are Slow- Start, Congestion Avoidance, congestion control are used in TCP. This paper presents TCP congestion control mechanisms are like Slow- Start, retransmission and congestion window. Paper also discuss about the reasons for congestion control and TCP variants like TCP Tahoe, TCP Vegas, TCP Reno etc.
