Abstract
A Distribution STATic Compensator (DSTATCOM)is a compensating device connected in shunt with the load which is mainly used for Load Compensation, Voltage Regulation, compensating reactive power, eliminating harmonic and Power Factor improvement. Here, different control algorithms to operate a DSTATCOM in voltage control mode and current control mode has been discussed. Also simulation is done using MATLAB SIMULINK SimPower Systems tool box to analyse the behaviour of DSTATCOM connected to a grid during supply voltage fluctuations. The results show that the DSTATCOM responds quickly even under distorted supply voltage and the THD is also reduced.
