Abstract

The information contained in this article is the result of a survey questionnaire sent to all city managers in Canada in connection with a research project on the Council‐Manager form of municipal government in Canada. This project was undertaken as part of the writer's graduate studies at the School of Public Administration at Carleton University. I would like to express my appreciation for the assistance given by the school and especially to Dr. D. C. Rowat for the invaluable assistance he gave me in interpreting the data. I would also like to thank all those city managers who took the time in their busy schedules to complete the questionnaire because without their cooperation this survey would not have been possible.
