Abstract
At the height of the civil rights movement, efforts were undertaken in this country to change major social institutions so that equality had greater meaning for all citizens. Schools of public administration across the country responded with increased efforts to recruit minority students in order to improve educational opportunities for minorities so that they could compete more equitably for employment. In spite of these efforts, the Task Force on the Future of NASPAA (National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration) has recently recommended the adoption of more stringent standards to ensure diversity of students, faculty, and curriculum content in member schools.
