Abstract

A survey of 100 subjects, 59 males and 41 females, was carried out to determine the volume of liquid which was believed to be contained within a hand-poured standard measure of spirit. Three different styles of glass were used and volumes accurately measured. Responses were also noted in relation to sex, age and the frequency the individuals came into contact with spirit. The findings show that the individuals surveyed had a more accurate perception of a single and double 'pub' measure of spirit than anticipated.
