Abstract

SUMMARYRing rot is not known to occur in Gt. Britain but was intercepted at Enghsh ports in 19 consignments of ware potatoes from Europe during the period 1958–67. No ring rot was detected in a survey of 4,417 stored potato crops on farms in England and Wales made in the winters of 1967–68 and 1968–69, indicating that if the disease had been present for more than a few years prior to the survey it is most unlikely that it would have escaped detection.
