Abstract
AbstractA substrate integrated suspended line (SISL) gain‐enhanced patch antenna is proposed. Enhanced gain is obtained by a long patch. To suppress the high‐order mode in the anticipated band, a feeding structure is designed with the assistance of characteristic mode analysis. The proposed SISL antenna with the proposed feeding structure suppresses higher‐order modes, achieves good impedance matching and stable broadside gain across the operating frequency band. The antenna has the potential to satisfy wireless local area network (WLAN) application. Measured results show that the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth for the proposed antenna is 18.6% from 4.93 to 5.94 GHz with an average gain of 8.34 dBi. The measured results show great agreement with simulated results.
