Abstract
This paper considers the effect of a state dependent immigration component on the subcritical Galton-Watson branching process. Geometric ergodicity is obtained under fairly mild conditions. In addition, when the dependence is of the simplest kind proposed here and the immigration distribution is of a form “closely allied” to the offspring distribution, consideration is given to obtaining asymptotic expressions for the n-step transition probabilities.
