Abstract

At present, tin bronze alloys are widely used in the manufacture of torpedo bullet engines by casting method. The phenomenon of porosity has occurred quite commonly in castings, making the engine products not solid and leaking pressure during working under sea water depth. The study of casting technology selection, as well as casting quality control is very urgent. The topic of this study is to evaluate and compare the possibility of porosity appearance when implementing different mold technologies, also to found a solution to choose the mold, based on the effective control of the solidification rate in order to minimize air permeability to castings in various mold technologies. The relationship between the solidification rate and porosity has been determined, thereby controlling the porosity of tin bronze alloy castings.
