Abstract
Abstract: An example of a near-infrared chemical laser is a chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL). The beam is invisible to the human eye since it is infrared. In continuous mode, its output power can scale up to megawatts. Its output wavelength is 1315 nm, which equals atomic iodine's transition wavelength.[23] The Air Force Research Laboratory created the chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL), an infrared chemical laser, in 1977 mainly for military use. The laser's output power can be up to megawatts when operating in continuous mode. [22]
