Abstract

Objective To study the changes of female patients’ mental health before and after excimer laser surgery. Methods Forty three female patients with refractive error admitted in Peking University People’s Hospital and treated with excimer laser surgery from July 21, 2014 to September 30, 2014 were selected in the study. Results The force, anxiety, terror and psychoticism factor scores of the patients preoperatively were higher than the norm (P <0.05), while the positive factor numbers were also more than the norm (P <0.05). The interpersonal sensitivity and paranoid factor scores postoperation were lower than the norm (P <0.05). Compared with the preoperative, after sur-gery the somatization, force, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, terror, paranoia and psychoticism scores were significantly decreased (P <0.05), and the positive factor numbers were also decreased significantly than preoperative (P <0.05). Conclusions There are obvious mental health problems preoperatively of female excimer laser surgery patients. The problems could be alleviated much after surgery.
