Abstract
It is an undeniable fact that by implementing smart home technology (SHT), the quality of life for the occupants within can be improved for different aspects such as safety, leisure, comfort, and healthcare. However, it is discovered that Malaysians are highly reluctant in adopting SHT in their house. The research approach undertaken was quantitative method by sending questionnaire through emails. This research found the main key features of SHT are that they have high helpfulness level in improving the occupants' quality of life; the chapter lays out the main factors affecting the home buyers to adopt SHT and the main challenges exist staying in a smart home. Moreover, attractiveness and clear interface are both main factors affecting the smart homeowners to adopt SHT from the smart home users' perspective. However, poor operationality is rated as the most challenging limitation faced by the smart home users themselves. Also, poor operationality has the most significant influence on the smart home user's overall satisfaction level toward the smart home system.
