Abstract

This article examines that planar complexity of residential work by Steven Holl with fractal analysis. It is suggested that his architectural design has order from his discourse expressions. This study aims to verify planar characteristics in residential design in terms of order and randomness. This study contributes to clarify design methodology of planar expression with analysing fractal. The evaluation of characteristics is assessed by fractal dimension and clustering. The results indicate that the residential planar has 4 types of character by the figures of fractal dimension. The results are based on the scale of order and randomness for the planar form of the interior and outline.
