Abstract

Recently, many researched have been conducted to prevent a lot of traffic accidents caused by driver distraction such as neglect of forward-looking. A HUD (Head Up Display) is an exemplary device that can make human keep their eyes forward. However, when an image is generated from a light source, there is a case ghost images appear. These ghost images may cause dizziness to the driver while driving and confusion about the important driving information acquisition. Therefore, the ghost images are a phenomenon that must be removed from the HUD system. In this study, we proposed a quantitative method for measuring and evaluating a ghost image of the HUD system which is difficult to identify with the naked eye. In addition, we showed the effectiveness of our proposed method through brightness analysis of ghost images.
