Abstract

Marine microorganisms have unique properties since they have to adapt extreme environmental conditions. The population in India is exerting great pressure on agricultural lands to fulfil the requirements. Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria (PGPB) are the potential tool for viable agriculture. The present study mainly focused to characterize marine sediment bacteria with major plant growth promoting traits. Five major plant growth promoting traits like phosphate and potassium solubilization efficiency, indole acetic acid, siderophore production and nitrogen fixation ability were analyzed in the study. The present study clearly revealed the presence of novel plant growth promoting bacteria in the marine environment.
