Abstract

This study is aimed at forecasting leisure demand, developing leisure activities programs and helping establish leisure policy strategies of single household. A survey for this research was conducted of a sample of 204 single households between the ages 20 and 60, and analyzed their lifestyle and leisure activities. The results of the study are as follows. First, the lifestyle of the single household is classified six types: ‘trend pursuing type’, ‘creation pursuing type’, ‘challenge pursuing type’, ‘leadership type’, ‘religion pursuing type’, ‘knowledge pursuing type’. And the lifestyle types of single household show significant differences according to demographic characteristics of gender, age, marital status, residence, education and monthly income. Second, the leisure activities are classified five types: ‘culture leisure’, ‘outdoor recreation’, ‘health’, ‘religion-hobby’, ‘social leisure’. And the leisure activities’ types of single household show significant differences according to demographic characteristics of gender, age, marital status and residence. Third, the analysis divided and examine in entire single household, the 20s~30s and the 40s~50s. The influence between the lifestyle and leisure activities shows different significant results according to each group. Other lifestyle types except ‘trend pursuing type’ have a significant positive(+) or negative(-) influence upon the leisure activities’ types of all groups.
