Abstract
AbstractThis paper describes the feature of codings for fractal curves. Here the two basic coding methods, the chain coding and the polygonal approximation, are examined. The ratio of the number of chain codes to the number of line segments for fractal curves is derived as a function of the triple quantities: the maximum allowable error; the line length of polygonal approximation; and the coefficient which is determined by the method of fractal curve generation. The ratio of the maximum allowable error to the line about the polygonal approximation of the artificial fractal curve can be derived from its fractal dimension.
