Abstract
A study of 29 subjects who had added or applied home reliner materials to their dentures has been presented. These subjects were seeking a means of comfort and masticatory improvement while unknowingly introducing hazards which resulted in irreversible deformation of the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity. The responsibility of the dental profession to its patients demands that complete denture service include anticipation of the problems attendant to the insertion of dentures, to use every possible precaution and safeguard in the construction of complete dentures, and to educate the patient completely in every facet of denture use and upkeep, especially professional adjustment and correction.
