Abstract

The relaxational properties of a polyimide film based on pyromellitic anhydride and 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether have been studied under creep conditions over a broad range of temperature and stresses. The mechanical serviceability of the film was analysed. The regions of linear and non-linear mechanical behaviour were evaluated. The data obtained were generalized from the viewpoint of the principle of temperature-time analogy. The optimum ranges of stress and temperature for the practical use of a given material and for accomplishment of orientational processes were determined.
