Abstract
Measurements of level positions, lifetimes, spins and decay modes in 18Ne are described. The 16O( 3He, n) 18Ne reaction was used. The 1887.3 keV level ( J π = 2 +) has τ = 0.49 −0.09 +0.17 psec; the 3376.2 keV level has τ = 1.9 −0.4 +1.0 psec; the 3576.3 keV level has τ > 2 psec; the 3616.4 keV level has J = 2 and τ = 0.063 −0.020 +0.030 psec. Mixing ratios are also reported. Mirror arguments together with the measured lifetimes and angular distributions lead to assignments of J = 4 and J = 0 for the 3376 and 3576 keV levels, respectively. The measured lifetimes are compared, together with those of 18O, with theoretical predictions.
