Abstract
Important questions arise concerning the total cost-efficiency, the energy requirement and possible added emissions of CO 2 when implementing recovery and disposal of CO 2 in real sites. These questions are investigated for two site-specific plants in Norway. These are an offshore plant in the North Sea and an onshore plant in the South-Eastern part of Norway. When investigating the disposal of CO 2 it was emphasized to find realistic alternatives: ocean disposal by shallow injection, aquifers and depleted gas fields. Two different separation processes were also evaluated: absorption with monoethanolamine and polymer membranes. All results are calculated by means of the simulation program ASPEN PLUS TM or estimated based on literature data.
