The granite mining/quarry industry are considered to be a common place of more hazards because of the higher incidence of fatal accidents. To curtail these occurrences, various elements need to be incorporated in the modern mining machinery such as equipment, resource allocation, and overall management. This paper analyses safety management system in the granite mines/quarries through means of safety survey, interviews with different level of employees/workers. In order to achieve this goal, accident data analysis with specific reference to the mechanical material handling equipment and recommendations are undertaken for enhancing the overall safety management system in the granite mining/quarry industry. The results are then statistically analyzed for significance through ‘T-Test’ analysis.
