Abstract

Logistics is the management of the flow of goods, information and other resources, including energy and people, between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet the requirements of consumers. Logistics involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material-handling, and packaging, and occasionally security. Ports are economic and service provision unity of a remarkable importance since they act as a place for interchange of two transport modes: Maritime and land whether by rail or road. The essential aspects of the port lies in inter model nature. The main objectives are, to analyze the performance and operational parameters of New Mangalore Port Trust. To identify the types of cargo transportation for New Mangalore Port Trust. To assess the viability of the road link from Nanjangud and Kannur to New Mangalore Port Trust. To identify the potential business connectivity from Nanjangud and Kannur to New Mangalore Port Trust. The approach used for the study is mainly descriptive approach. The secondary data is collected through the Indian Port Association (IPA), research books and internet. The primary data is collected through questionnaires; the data collected is then analyzed. Findings, conclusion are drawn from the analysis.
