Abstract
A process for plutonium tetrafluoride fluorination with dioxydifluoride has been studied. The fluorination rate has been estimated at different distances from the dioxydifluoride source to the reaction zone with plutonium tetrafluoride. A kinetic equation for the dependence of the degree of plutonium tetrafluoride transformation into hexafluoride on the time period of fluorination with dioxydifluoride at room temperature has been derived. The kinetic equation constant is shown to be proportional to the dioxydifluoride pressure in the reaction zone and to the specific surface of the plutonium tetrafluoride powder. A comparative analysis of efficiencies of plutonium tetrafluoride fluorination with dioxydifluoride and atomic fluorine has been carried out.
