Abstract

Energy-weighted electronuclear sum rules at constant momentum transfer are studied for light and medium-weight nuclei. For light nuclei exact wave functions obtained with realistic nuclear forces are used, while for heavier nuclei RPA results are obtained using a shell-model basis with effective forces. The Coulomb sum rule is enhanced by exchange forces, its momentum dependence reflects the range of the potential and the two-particle correlations. A multipole decomposition shows that this enhancement is mainly due to the dipole mode. The transverse sum rule is dominated by the spin current, which is also enhanced by exchange forces.
