A Study of Comparing Agricultural Education about Practical Arts(Technology, Home) Textbook in Korea and Japan

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 한국과 일본의 초등학교와 중학교 실과(기술⋅가정) 교과에서 이루어지는 농업교육 내용을 양적, 질적으로 비교 분석하는 것이다. 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 한국의 초등학교 실과 교과서 3종, 중학교 기술 교과서 3종, 일본의 중학교 기술 교과서 2종을 분석하고, 다음과 같은 연구결과를 얻었다. 첫째, 한국과 일본의 농업교육 내용 중에서 가장 공통점이 많은 영역은 ‘생활 속의 동식물 이용’으로 작물재배에 대한 기초적인 지식과 기능을 익히고 실습하는 내용을 유사한 구조로 제시하고 있었다. 둘째, 한국에서의 농업교육은 작물, 가축, 생명기술에 대하여 폭넓은 주제를 다양하게 배우는데 중점을 두고 있는 반면, 일본은 작물을 재배하는 내용에 중점을 두고 이에 관련된 내용을 세부적으로 자세하게 설명하는데 주안점을 두고 있었다. 셋째, 한국 학생은 초등학교 실과 교과서에서 농업교육을 접하게 되지만, 일본은 초등학교에서 실과와 기술 교과를 다루지 않기 때문에 일본 학생은 중학생이 되어서야 기술 교과서를 통해 농업교육을 배우고 있었다. 넷째, 일본 교과서에서는 현재 우리나라에서 지금은 다루지 않는 쌀과 수산물에 대한 내용이 포함되어 있었다.The purpose of this study is to analyze quantitatively and qualitatively the content elements of agricultural education in elementary school and middle school Practical Arts(Technology, Home) curriculum in Korea and Japan. In this study, three kinds of elementary school textbooks in Korea, three kinds of middle school technical textbooks in Korea, and two kinds of middle school technical textbooks in Japan were analyzed, and the following study results were obtained. First, while Korean students learn agriculture education in elementary school textbooks, Japanese students learn agriculture education through Technology textbooks when they become middle school students. Second, among the content factors of textbooks from Korea and Japan, there were many common points in Plants and Animals Used in Daily Life , and they learned basic skills and knowledge about cultivation of crops and presented them with a similar structure. Thirdly, agricultural education in Korea focuses on various topics of crop, livestock, and life technologies. On the other hand, Japan focuses on the cultivation of crops and focuses on explaining such contents in (more) detail. Fourth, in Japanese textbooks, we could not find any information about the various kinds of animals and plants and their use which has been continuously studied in Korea. Also, the contents about breeding methods of pets and farm animals were minimized in Japanese textbooks
