Abstract

Abstract: My upcoming thesis on Kenyan Quakerism updates the existing scholarship on Quakerism and situates it in the African Christian context in the post-missionary/colonial era. The scholarship on African Christianity in the post-missionary/colonial era has only briefly touched on Kenyan Quakerism. Again, a few of what has been written by Africans on Quakerism are not academic and situated within the African Christian Quaker context. It is against this background that key texts on Kenyan Quakerism are used to determine what needs to be updated in situating Kenyan Quakerism in the African Christian context. An overview of these texts is explored in this writing, highlighting the importance of this research to Quaker scholarship.
