Abstract
Prodrug delivery strategy for its potential to enhance the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs, especial to loworalabsorptionandbioavailability agents. Here, a berberine metabolite demethyleneberberine was conjugated into carboxymethyl chitosan by borate bond as a pH/ROS dual-responsive trigger. The amphiphilic conjugate readily spontaneously self-assembled into the nanomicelles in aqueous solution as prodrug delivery system for the therapy of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). In vivo experiments demonstrated the significant anti-inflammatory effect of CMCS-B-DMB nanomicelles.
