Abstract
This paper reviews work by Wittes and Brittain, Shih, and Stein pertaining to sample size adjustment and interim analysis. In view of their own encounters, the authors propose a mixed method for sample size adjustment of a clinical trial, when prior reliable knowledge at the design stage is minimal.
