Abstract

Records indicate that over the last 40 years the mean global temperature has gone down 0.2 °C, the mean sea level has gone up 120 mm and there has been a build-up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The rise in sea level thus cannot be the result of thermal expansion, so it must imply large scale melting of polar ice.
