Abstract
A spectrum analysis of the potential fluctuation during passive film breakdown and repair of iron in a solution containing NaCl was performed. It was found that the power spectrum density decreases with the frequency, first as 1/ f 2, then 1/ f 4. These spectrum characteristics could be well simulated by a simple electrochemical and stochastic model developed in this study.
