Abstract

Most threatening nightmare of the palm tree cultivation is the Red Palm Weevil (RPW) which attacks the young palm tree. Identifying the RPW larvae has become a big challenge in the palm tree cultivation and acoustical method had shown positive approach in identifying the instar in a non-pernicious way. The proposed work is an acoustical based research where waveform pattern is analysed. The RPW larvae's acoustic waveform pattern is compared with the commonly found species waveform pattern. Interval matching is a training algorithm used to learn the waveform pattern of the RPW larvae. Pattern matching algorithm is utilized to calculate the slope waveform of the incoming acoustical signal to compare with the RPW larvae waveform and confirms its presence showing an accuracy of 92.2%.
