Abstract
In presenting this paper I wish to highlight some of the challenges and dilemmas posed to social work staff by the legal process since the implementation of the Children (N.I.) Order. The team for children with disability in Ballymena became involved in a case which came into the Court system in January 1997. Whilst my presentation centres around this experience, I know that many can relate to the challenges and dilemmas which social workers have had to meet in the last 12 months.
