Abstract

In the past, several ultrasonic bloodflow imaging systems have been proposed. Those of most interest to us have been the pulsed sinusoid system, the random noise system, and the pseudo noise system. In this paper, some advantages and disadvantages of each are discussed. This paper begins with a brief review of signal processing as it applies to blood flow measuring systems in general. Next each of the above systems are discussed and related to the general theory. A system which combines some of the advantages of each is introduced at this point. Finally, the results of a sophisticated simulation developed specifically to compare these systems is presented.
