Abstract
A simplified respirometer capable of measuring oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide evolution of large soil samples over extended experimental periods is described. Respirometric activity is calculated by use of conventional manometric procedures. This unit provides a combination of low cost, simplicity and procedural validity which make it applicable to diverse experiments in soil microbiology.
