Abstract
Fitch (1951, 1960) has discussed the design of a funnel trap for reptiles. During the past sixteen years, this trap has been used successfully in the study of various kinds of reptiles at the University of Kansas Natural History Reservation. Blair (1960) and Clark (1966) have described the modified versions of this basic design which they have used with success on arboreal lizards and secretive snakes respectively. In the course of a study of the lizard, Eumeces obsoletus, I have modified the basic design to produce a trap which, because of its low cost, ease of construction and convenience in field use, may be of widespread usefulness in ecological studies. The body of the trap is made from a one pound (14 cm. tall x 10 cm. diameter) coffee can. The funnel is fashioned from a 1 x 1.5 ft.
