Abstract

A method to estimate thermophilic fungal biomass in compost was developed. The method involves homogenization of the compost, addition of water and nutrients, preincubation, antibiotics addition and measurement of CO2 production at 45 °C. The method proved to be reasonably reproducible. Samples could be stored at 4 °C for more than a month without significant loss of activity.
