Abstract

AbstractAn efficient numerical procedure based on full‐wave analysis is formulated to compute the transmission characteristics of suspended striplines including the finite metallization thickness and substrate‐holding grooves. The formulation identifies the electric current sheets on the metallic strips and the magnetic current sheets at the apertures of the grooves, instead of the magnetic current sheets at the interfaces between adjacent media, as the unknown source quantities to be determined. The effect of the finite metallization thickness is taken into approximate account by the electric current sheets on the upper and lower surfaces of the metallic strips. This makes the final matrix equation be of the moderate order and calculated with the reasonable CPU time. The validity of the formulation is confirmed by comparing the present results with available data in the literature.
