Abstract
A method for the short-term forecasting of earthquakes based on the simultaneous detection of neutrons and low-energy charged particles produced in the earth’s crust is described. Cherenkov and scintillation detectors and neutron counters are used in the setup. It is shown that this setup offers a chance to forecast earthquakes with a magnitude of over 3 10 h before their start.
