Abstract
What do the Coen brothers and the Grimm brothers have in common? Viewed as a contemporary story structured as a fairy tale, A Serious Man tells the story of a modern hero's journey. This paper brings to bear an analysis of a modern Jewish fairy tale, as it were, in the way that Marie-Louise von Franz, David L. Hart, and Kathrin Asper, three Jungian analysts of note, have analyzed the more traditional European fairy tales.
